David Cochran brings a career that has spanned more than 20 years in financial services to TIAA Global Asset Management (TGAM).  Over the last fifteen years, he has advised client companies as an executive search consultant with a primary focus on the investment management industry.  He joined the company in 2014 and currently runs executive level recruiting and international talent acquisition for TGAM. As the head of executive search, David focuses his attention on senior level talent issues across the TGAM enterprise. David started his search career in Spencer Stuart’s asset management practice and was later recruited away to join a retained executive search boutique with an exclusive concentration on serving investment management companies. With a particular focus on front office investment and distribution functions, David took his expertise to a London-based recruitment boutique focused on alternative asset managers and became a senior leader in the firm’s New York office.  David’s clients have ranged from boutique alternative asset managers to large global investment institutions such as Morgan Stanley and the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority through to principal investors like endowments and foundations and large fund of hedge funds. Outside of his search career, David has spent time in the investment markets as a fixed income research analyst and senior level consultant. He lives in Connecticut with his wife and two children and is involved in several community engagements including local youth athletic and church organizations. David received a BA in Psychology from Yale University where he was a member of the Mens Varsity Ice Hockey and Varsity Lacrosse teams.
