Lieutenant General Nina Armagno
Lieutenant General Nina Armagno is the Director of Staff, Headquarters U.S. Space Force, Washington, D.C. In this role, she synchronizes and integrates policy, plans, positions, procedures and cross-functional issues for the headquarters staff. Prior to her current assignment, she was Director of Space Programs at the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics, Washington, D.C., where she directed development and purchasing on space programs to Air Force major commands, product centers, and laboratories. Lieutenant General Armagno earned her commission and graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in June 1988. Her experience in space systems operations includes combat-mission-ready operator, instructor, evaluator, and flight commander in strategic missile warning, space surveillance, space control, space launch, and theater missile warning mission areas. Lieutenant General Armagno has also served as Director of Plans and Policy of U.S. Strategic Command at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska. She was directly responsible to the USSTRATCOM Commander for the development and implementation of national security policy and guidance, military strategy and guidance, space and weapons employment policy, and concepts and joint doctrine as they apply to the command and the execution of its mission. She also served as the Director of Strategic Plans, Programs, Requirements, and Analysis at the Air Force Space Command Headquarters at Peterson AFB in Colorado; Commander of the 45th Space Wing, and Director of Eastern Range at Patrick AFB in Florida; Commander of the 30th Space Wing at Vandenberg AFB in California; Commander and Deputy Commander of the 21st Operations Group at Peterson AFB in Colorado; Senior Military Assistant and Chief of Staff to the Director in the Office of the Secretary of Defense; Squadron and Installation Commander of the 6th Space Warning Squadron at Cape Cod Air Force Station in Massachusetts; and Director of Operations of the 1st Space Launch Squadron at Cape Canaveral AFS in Florida. In addition, she has held staff assignments at U.S. Air Force Headquarters, Air Force Space Command Headquarters, 14th Air Force and the 381st Training Group Headquarters, and has served as an Air Force legislative fellow in the office of Congresswoman Ellen Tauscher.
