SUMMARY:Introduction to Python for Business and Finance
DESCRIPTION:OverviewPython is a high-level\, object-oriented programming language that is used in a variety of projects ranging from data science and machine learning to backend web development. In fact\, it is one of the most in-demand programming languages today. \nLearning Python is a great entry point into the technical world as the syntax is much easier to learn compared to other programming languages. Because of its syntax simplicity\, Python is a common first programming language for business and finance individuals. \nBut\, do not be misinformed though! SUMMARY:4th Annual Performance and Risk Forum
DESCRIPTION:OverviewThe Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS®) are a set of standardized\, industry-wide ethical principles that provide investment management firms with guidance on how to calculate and report investment performance to prospective clients. Investment managers voluntarily choose to abide by the GIPS standards – compliance is not mandated by any law or regulation. For many years\, GIPS compliance has been seen as an essential ingredient that can make or break a firm’s marketing efforts in terms of winning new mandates and maintaining institutional clients. This conference provides a forum in New York to discuss the most recent developments in the GIPS standards (the 2020 GIPS Standards) and hear from industry experts on how they implement the standards and other performance measurement and risk analyses at their respective firms. The conference will provide attendees to interact with the speakers during breaks and a networking period at the end. \nAgenda3:30 PM | REGISTRATION & CHECKIN \n\n4:00 PM | INTRODUCTION & WELCOME \n\nJohn Matsikas\, CFA\, CIPM\, Investment Performance & Portfolio Analytics Reporting Group\, Voya Investment Management \n\n\n4:05 PM | GIPS 2020 DISCUSSION \nIntroduced by Jed Schneider\, CIPM\, FRM\, GIPS compliance and performance reporting at Lazard Asset Management \n\nPanelists \nBeth Kaiser\, CFA\, CIPM\, Director\, Global Industry Standards\, CFA Institute \nThomas A. SUMMARY:The Search for Returns: Niche Investment Strategies
DESCRIPTION:OverviewNiche Strategy Investing could be defined as any investment that doesn’t fit neatly into a defined category or any traditional set of parameters. It requires unique expertise and sophistication to be pursed\, managed and evaluated. It’s likely to involve investments with complexities that make it more difficult to understand\, or that run counter to traditional norms/trends and are often private and relatively illiquid; and therein lie the opportunities. Investments lacking traditional mainstream appeal are likely to provide premiums for those capable of—and willing to—handle the eccentricities. Private equity\, prior to its eventual boom in popularity evident today\, provides one such historic example. \nToday\, the most sophisticated investors are allocating assets in unique\, non-traditional ways. \nThis conference will introduce you to experts across a variety of niche investments\, who will speak to and discuss their respective investment specialties\, and reinforce the case for “thinking outside the box” when considering how best to generate return premiums. \nAgenda5:30 PM |REGISTRATION & CHECK-IN \n\n6:00 PM |INTRODUCTION & WELCOMING REMARKS \n\nWilliam Enright\, CFA\, Director of Sales and Marketing at Gore Range Capital \n\n\n6:05 PM | KEYNOTE SPEAKER \n\nNeil Hohmann\, Ph.D.\, Head of Structured Products and a portfolio manager for BBH Investment Management \n\n\n6:35 PM | PANEL DISCUSSION \n\nModerator \nNeil Hohmann\, Ph.D.\, Head of Structured Products and a portfolio manager for BBH Investment Management \nPanelists \nJames D. SUMMARY:4th Annual Endowment & Foundation CIO Roundtable
DESCRIPTION:4th Annual Endowment and Foundation Chief Investment Officer Roundtable\n \n \n Thursday\, February 6\n \nSOLD OUT\nRegistration Closed | No Walk-Ins \n4th Annual Endowment and Foundation CIO Roundtable has reached capacity\, and registration is now closed. No walk-ins will be admitted. \nOverviewThe 4th Annual Endowment and Foundation Chief Investment Officer Roundtable will feature a high-level discussion on the implications of current market conditions and within this context\, analyze trends in best practices in investment strategy\, risk management and market engagement. As Endowments and Foundations are faced with a challenging return environment and higher market volatility\, the outlook for future returns seems muted when compared to their impressive record of double digit growth generated in the recent past. Most are responding to the lack of readily evident market opportunities by investing in longer-term opportunities such as alternatives\, exploring private markets and turning to strategic partners. As Endowments and Foundations seek to take a more hands-on approach to investment management and increase the complexity of their portfolios by moving into new markets\, their perspectives and approach towards these goals offer a valuable lesson for investors. \nAsset Owners Attend FreeAsset Owner status must be verified by filling out the brief form linked below.
