Jonathan Nus
Jonathan Nus is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s in New York. With over 25+ years of experience, he is a recognized and trusted advisor in accounting and financial reporting, combining deep capital markets experience with technical accounting, financial analysis and operational abilities. He has held prominent technical advisory roles to the FASB, the AICPA, and other organizations with a financial reporting focus. As of January 1, 2022, he’s been appointed to the Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council (FASAC) by the Trustees of the Financial Accounting Foundation.
Mr. Nus has extensive experience assisting clients with transaction accounting and reporting support throughout the mergers & acquisitions (M&A) lifecycle and successfully led and executed numerous cross-border and domestic transactions. He also has hands-on experience advising clients on the impact of accounting, financial reporting and regulatory changes, including operationalizing major new standards such as revenue recognition and leases across various enterprises. He has helped clients streamline and improve their disclosure process and effectiveness. Mr. Nus recently served as a member of FASB’s Investors Advisory Committee (IAC) and the Financial Reporting Executive Committee (FinREC), the senior technical committee of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) for financial reporting, as well as contributed to numerous published AICPA accounting and auditing guides. He has authored numerous articles on a wide-range of technical accounting and financial reporting topics targeted for investors.
Previously, he was a Managing Director in EY’s Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) practice, where he co-led FAAS’s solution related to M&A activity and EY’s Disclosure Effectiveness solution. Prior to EY, Mr. Nus served as Senior Director at S&P Global and led the global financial services accounting specialist team, where he provided direction on the way in which financial statement information is analyzed and incorporated into S&P’s financial analysis and ratings considerations. Prior to S&P Ratings, Mr. Nus served in Deloitte’s National Office in the M&A group, where he was a member of a dedicated team responsible for advising one of the world’s largest private equity investors on M&A and technical accounting matters. He began his career in Deloitte’s NY audit practice. Mr. Nus is a CPA in New York and a member of the AICPA and NYSSCPA. He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Brooklyn College and an M.B.A in finance from New York University – Stern School of Business
