Overview

The event will bring together global experts on sovereign debt issues including veteran investors and discuss the evolving dynamics of sovereign credit, risk assessment, and investment opportunities across developed and emerging markets. Since the pandemic, global investors have become increasingly attuned to the rising global debt levels and have punished global markets ranging from advanced economies like the UK to emerging markets like Brazil. These issues have become even more pertinent given the increasing geopolitical fragmentation, rising geopolitical risks and importantly, investors’ concerns about US exceptionalism. This panel is thus very timely and will be of practical interest to investors, policy makers and academia.

The program will conclude with a brief talk from Lupin Rahman on the recently published book The Sovereign Debt Investor: An Essential Guide to Returns, Defaults, and Government Bonds — a timely framework to understand the increasing complexities of investing in this asset class, written by a long-time emerging markets investor at PIMCO, one of the world’s largest sovereign debt investors.
