ABOUT THE ASSET OWNER SERIES™

The Asset Owner Series™ (AOS) was launched by CFA Society New York in 2015 to provide a dedicated forum for asset owners to engage in meaningful dialogue with the broader investment community.

Membership Levels

Professional Membership

(formally known as Regular Membership)

FOR
Investment professionals directly involved in or supporting the investment decision-making process. Regular membership is a prerequisite to earning the CFA charter and CIPM certificate.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/work experience and a passing score for the CFA Program Level I Exam, CIPM Program Level II Exam, RBA Netherlands Exam, or the self-administered Standards of Practice Exam.

$549 / year Duration: 1 July to 30 June

Includes Membership to CFA Institute ($299) and CFA Society New York ($250)

Industry Membership

(formally known as Professional Membership)

FOR
Society-only membership is local only and for individuals not holding or eligible for the CFA Charter. If you have a membership with CFA Institute, please renew all memberships through the Institute.
Requirements: 4+ years of acceptable professional finance work experience, and at least a bachelor’s degree. At least one year of your “acceptable professional work experience” has occurred within the past four years.

$250 / year Duration: 1 July to 30 June

Membership to CFA Society New York Only

Associate Membership (New in 2026)

FOR
Individuals enrolled in the CFA program with at least a bachelor’s degree who have not yet received the CFA charter. Membership is rolling.

Requirements: Early career professionals including current CFA Program or past candidates, Charter pending (LIII passers) or CFA Institute certificate program participants.

$100 / year Duration: 1 year from join date

Membership to CFA Society New York Only. 
Does not include membership with CFA Institute.

Student Membership

FOR
Undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in an accredited college or university in a finance-related area.
Requirements: Currently enrolled as a full-time student in good academic standing.

$25 / year Duration: 1 July to 30 June

Membership to CFA Society New York Only

Candidate Membership

FOR
Individuals enrolled in the CFA program with at least a bachelor’s degree who have not yet received the CFA charter.

$100 / year Duration: 1 July to 30 June

Membership to CFA Society New York Only.
