  • Please note: Event proposals must be submitted at least two (2) months prior to the planned event date in order to be considered. This lead-time helps ensure sufficient time for all planning, coordination and marketing efforts.

  • Event: Defined as three or more speakers and a minimum of 50 attendees

    Gathering: Such as Author Series, Roundtables and Committee Meetings

    Social: Designed to bring members together for networking opportunities, minimum of 50 attendees and can be joined with an Event if there are three of more speakers

    Distinguished Investor Presentation: This is the only time when one individual could speak in front of our audience, must be a well-known industry leader

    Series: Must complete 4 Events around a focused theme (geographic subset, investor type subset or asset class subset) over 12 months, demonstrate a plan for 4 Events annually over the next 24 months; the Author Series, which I understand will be webinar-based going forward, can be grandfathered in using the title "Series", however the way the PC will look at it is a collection of gatherings

    Speaker Details

    Opening and closing comments done by organizers or Chairs / Vice Chairs or Board members must be procedural and limited to no more than 5 minutes.

    Opening comments may include: (1) objectives of the event; (2) expressed appreciation for the volunteers involved in the organization of the event; (3) stress the environment of peer-to-peer discussion and event neutrality.

    For closing remarks, best practices include thanking attendees and speakers, expressing the value of involved volunteers and sponsorship, and urging guests to enjoy the reception that will follow the remarks.

    Chairs, Vice Chairs, Organizers and CFANY Board Members, in addition to both CFANY and CFA Institute Staff, may not speak on the panel, nor moderate or keynote the event without the written approval of the CEO, granted in conjunction with a recommendation received via the Programming Committee. Chairs, Vice Chairs, Organizers and CFANY Board Members, in addition to both CFANY and CFA Institute Staff, are permitted to deliver opening or closing remarks.

    Events must be aligned with the CFANY mission. Events focused on, but not limited to subjects including purchasing a car, home, or any product, will require an exceptional and comprehensive level of justification in order to attain approval to move forward.
