Azar Abramov, CFA

Azar Abramov, CFA works in the structured securities group at the NAIC analyzing Residential and Commercial mortgage-backed securities along with collateralized loan obligations and other structured assets.  Experience professional, analyzing insurers’ investments and monitoring capital markets activity. Azar’s career began at the New York State Insurance Department as an intern at the Capital Markets Bureau, where he assisted in analyzing Insurers’ investment portfolios. Azar transitioned to the NAIC where he continued to analyze all U.S. insurance company portfolios, perform research on industry-wide investments and monitor capital markets activity. Since the onset of the great financial crisis, the focus shifted to modeling expected loss for RMBS and CMBS and its impact on the insurance industry and risk-based capital. More recently, he has been involved in developing CLO modeling capabilities. Azar graduated from Baruch College’s Ziklin School of Business with a BBA in finance and investments and is a CFA charterholder.
