Bruce Pounder, CPA, CMA, CFM
Bruce Pounder is the Executive Director of GAAP Lab, where he advises corporate executives and audit committees on technical accounting matters under U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). On thousands of occasions, Bruce has solved complex, ambiguous, and controversial technical accounting problems for public companies (SEC registrants) and private companies.
As the author of several books (published by the Financial Accounting Foundation, CCH, and Wiley) and more than 60 articles, Bruce is a globally recognized expert on technical accounting. His insights have been quoted extensively in Bloomberg, Reuters, Compliance Week, and other media outlets. He has also led professional committees and working groups to provide input to the FASB and SEC on emerging issues in corporate financial reporting.
Bruce has over 39 years of experience in financial accounting and reporting. Prior to founding GAAP Lab in 2017, he was a client-serving executive in EY’s Financial Accounting Advisory Services practice. In addition to his extensive experience as a trusted advisor, he has been the CFO of a private company and held VP and Director positions in a public company.
Bruce is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), and Certified Financial Manager (CFM). He holds a Bachelor’s degree summa cum laude from Syracuse University and an MBA from Rice University.
