Carlos Martins

Carlos Martins is a Senior Portfolio Manager of the Investment & Treasury division of the European Stability Mechanism (ESM). He joined the ESM/EFSF in 2012 and is responsible for investing part of the Paid-in Capital, in line with the ESM Investment Guideline. He has been working in fixed income markets for over a decade, helping develop the ESM’s asset allocation and investment framework since its inception in 2012. More recently he has become an ESG and Responsible Investments enthusiast. Prior to join the ESM/EFSF, Carlos spent over 6 years as a fixed income proprietary trader for a Portuguese investment bank, covering a vast array of fixed income instruments, and focusing on macro trades, covering both developed and emerging markets. Occasionally, he also participated on an IMF technical assistance mission, as a Reserve Management expert. Carlos graduated in Economics at University of Aveiro, Portugal and obtained a MSc in Finance from the Lancaster University, UK.
