Charles Powell, CFA

Charles “Chip” Powell is a Director and Senior Portfolio Manager/Analyst on the Global Equities team at Citi Investment Management. He is the lead portfolio manager on the Citi Emerging Markets Core Equities portfolio and is a research generalist for the emerging market geographies. Chip has 22 years of experience in the investment management industry and has primarily focused on the emerging markets asset class during that time. He began his investment career at GE Asset Management in 2002 after returning from graduate school, having worked in various finance roles at GE Capital prior to starting his MBA studies. Chip was a co-portfolio manager on GEAM’s emerging markets equity portfolio and launched a dedicated frontier markets equity strategy which he co-managed for several years. In 2014, he joined Altrinsic Global Advisors where he launched and co-managed an emerging markets equity portfolio. Chip’s research domain expertise includes the non-US consumer discretionary sector as well as emerging market financials. He joined Citi in 2021 and is based in New York .

Chip has a BA in Economics from Trinity College in Hartford, CT and an MBA from the University of Southern California at the Marshall School of Business. He is a CFA Charter holder and a member of the New York Society of Securities Analyst. He holds FINRA Series 7 and 66 licenses.
