Charlotte Beyer
A Wall Street veteran and entrepreneur, Charlotte Beyer has been identifying changes in the culture and dynamics of wealth management since 1992. After selling her company, Beyer turned her attention to philanthropy with the creation of the Principle Quest Foundationwhose mission is women’s empowerment.
Beyer’s career spans 40+ years, first on Wall Street, and then as founder of the Institute for Private Investors [IPI] in 1992. A pioneer in social media, IPI hosted the first online community for investors when it went live in 1998. An Aresty Fellow of the Wharton School, Beyer continues to teach in Wharton’s Private Wealth Management program, a five-day residential curriculum she co-created with Wharton in 1999. To date over 1000 UHNW principals have attended from 50 countries.
Upon retiring as CEO of IPI in 2012, Beyer founded the Principle Quest Foundation, a 501c3 foundation whose mission is to support innovative education and mentoring programs for women of all ages. Since 2012, 120 women have attended the weekend retreats, and over 30 grants have been made. A lifetime trustee of the Westover School, an all-girls school, Beyer was featured in the Wall Street Journal Donor of the Day columnin 2011.
Currently serving on the global association board of 100 Women in Financeand on the Ambassador Board of Institutional Investor’s Journal of Wealth Management, Beyer continues to remain active in various industry groups, including the CFA Institute’s Security Analyst Seminar Board of Regents and the Women’s Initiative (WIN) Council of the CFP board. Her articles have appeared in industry publications over the years, and her most recent book, Wealth Management Unwrapped Revised & Expanded (Wiley 2017)describes key trends in the wealth management industry, including robo-advisors, the aging private client and ‘women with wallets.’
