Christopher Mendez

Christopher Mendez is the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of Commonwealth Asset Management LP. Commonwealth is a Los Angeles-based asset management firm founded in 2019 and led by Adam Fisher, former Head of Global Macro and Real Estate at Soros Fund Management LLC. Commonwealth offers separate but complimentary strategies across its Global Macro and Real Estate platforms.

Christopher joined Commonwealth from Semper Capital Management, LP, a New York-based structured credit firm where he served as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer. Mr. Mendez was previously in the Business Law Department at Goodwin Procter LLP and prior to that held several roles at large institutional asset management firms. He has successfully navigated numerous large-scale strategic business initiatives, including launching several fund platforms and structures across key jurisdictions such as the United States, United Kingdom, Cayman Islands, Luxembourg and Ireland.

Christopher began his career at The Vanguard Group after serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He advises several emerging asset management firms and venture capital funds, including as a Partner with LunaCap Ventures, a New York-based venture debt firm providing growth capital to minority, women, and veteran-founded firms. He serves on the Board of Directors of Volunteers of Legal Service (one of the largest providers of pro bono services to low-income New Yorkers) and is the Co-Founder of LunaCap Foundation (provides scholarships to veterans and those of Mexican heritage attending top tier business schools). Christopher holds a J.D. from Rutgers Law School and BBA from Temple University where he focused his studies on International Business.
