Clive Lipshitz
Clive Lipshitz is Managing Partner of Tradewind Interstate Advisors, where he consults to a number of alternative investment management firms. He brings a unique combination of deep experience in strategy and product development in private markets with academic-quality research in topics related to investment portfolios. For nearly a decade, he oversaw product strategy and development at Credit Suisse Asset Management and at Brookfield launching 30 new investment businesses in real estate, private equity, infrastructure, credit, hedge funds, and multi-asset strategies. Previously, he was a growth capital investor in the Office of the Chairman at PaineWebber and a research analyst at Citigroup. He began his career as a CPA at Price Waterhouse. As a guest scholar at NYU Stern and Stanford University, he has co-authored peer-reviewed studies on public pensions and infrastructure finance. His work has appeared in publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Institutional Investor, Pensions & Investments, The Journal of Portfolio Management, The Hill, and The Globe & Mail. He regularly speaks at conferences to pension trustees and investment staff, and asset management professionals. Clive is an advisor in the MS in Risk Management program at NYU Stern. He is an MBA and BA graduate of Tel Aviv University’s Coller School of Management and has a certificate in Real Estate Finance from NYU Schack. Clive has substantial international experience having worked in Latin America, Canada, the UK, Switzerland, Israel, South Africa, India, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
Clive Lipshitz is managing partner of Tradewind Interstate Advisors, a consultant to alternative investment management firms. He has extensive experience in investment product strategy and development and in marketing to institutional investors and private client platforms.
His 20+ years of experience includes nine years at Credit Suisse Asset Management as head of strategy and product development. He also held leadership roles at Brookfield and iCapital. Earlier in his career, Clive was a growth capital investor at TDA Capital Partners and in the Office of the Chairman at PaineWebber. He began his career as a CPA at Price Waterhouse. Most recently, he has advised organizations such as Carlyle, AECOM and the NYU Marron Institute of Urban Management.
Clive has authored research on the U.S. public pension system at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research and at NYU Stern. He has authored widely-cited thought leadership pieces and op-eds on infrastructure policy, finance and investing.
Clive has extensive global experience, having worked in Brazil, Mexico, Canada, the UK, Switzerland, Israel, South Africa, India, Singapore, and Hong Kong. He has a BA from Tel Aviv University, an MBA from the Coller School of Management at Tel Aviv University (partly at the Kellogg School of Management), and a Certificate in Real Estate Finance from NYU’s Schack Institute. He lives in northern NJ with his family with whom he has taken road trips through 48 U.S. states.
