COL Jarrett A. Thomas II
COL Jarrett A. Thomas II is a native of Ohio. He received a US Army commission as an Adjutant General Officer in 1996.
His early assignments include duty as an Executive Officer, Battalion S-1, and Detachment Commander in the 55th Personnel Services Battalion, as well as Operations Officer for the El Paso Military Entrance Processing Station. He later served as a Detachment Commander and Battalion S-3 in the 546th Personnel Services Battalion, Enlisted Strength Manager in 3rd Corps, in addition to serving as Company Commander and Chief of G-1 Plans and Operations in United States Army North (Fifth Army). Later assignments include duty as a Brigade S-1 in the 82nd Airborne Division, Corps Strength Manager in the 18th Airborne Corps, Battalion Commander and Deputy Chief of Staff of the 82nd Airborne Division, along with an assignment as Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff, G-1/Adjutant General for Army Material Command. COL Thomas’ most recent assignments include duty as the Garrison Commander for the Joint Readiness Training Center and Fort Polk. He later served as Director of Human Resources Management for the Combined Security Transition Command – Afghanistan. COL Thomas later served as Chief of the Strategic Initiatives Group and subsequently as the Executive Officer for the Army G-9. He most recently served as the Executive Officer for the Army G-1.
COL Thomas’ awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Services Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Citation, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, and Humanitarian Service Medal. Army Service Ribbon, and the Overseas Service Ribbon. He has earned the Master Parachutist Badge and German Parachutist Badge.
COL Thomas is a graduate of the United States Army War College, the Command General Staff College, the Combined Arms Services and Staff School, and Adjutant General Officer Basic and Advanced Courses. He has a Bachelor of Science in History, a Master of Arts in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix, and a Master of Science in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College.
