Colonel David A. Grant
Colonel David A. Grant received his commission on May 28, 1994 from the United States Military Academy. After graduating from the Adjutant General’s Corps Officer Basic Course at Fort Benjamin Harrison, IN, he reported to Fort Clayton, Panama for his first assignment as the battalion human resources officer of Headquarters Command, United States Army Garrison. A career human resources officer, some of Colonel Grant’s previous duty locations include West Point, NY; Fort Stewart, GA; Bosnia, and Afghanistan.
Colonel Grant currently serves as the Director of the Army’s Soldier for Life Program where he is responsible for initiatives that improve the quality of life for Soldiers, Veterans, and Family members. Previously, he served as the Human Resources Director for United States Army Cyber Command, commanded the San Antonio Recruiting Battalion, and also served as the Chief, Officer Accessions Policy Branch at Headquarters Department of the Army, G1, where he oversaw the entry of new officers into the Army. Additional assignments include serving as an Outreach Officer in the Admissions Department at the United States Military Academy and as the Executive Officer of an embedded Infantry training team in Kabul, Afghanistan for 12 months.
Colonel Grant has a Bachelor of Science degree in American Politics from the United States Military Academy, a Master’s degree in Management from the University of Maryland (University College), a Master’s Degree in National Security Resource Strategy from the National Defense University’s Eisenhower School, and a Doctorate in Business Administration from Northcentral University.
Colonel Grant enjoys playing the tenor saxophone. He is also a published author and continues to write academically and creatively.
Colonel Grant is married to the former Xiomara Barber, they have one child, David Jr., 20 years old.
