Daniel Freifeld
Daniel Freifeld is the founder of Permian International, an investment firm specializing in energy, infrastructure, and emerging and frontier market securities. He was previously senior advisor to the special envoy for Eurasian energy at the US Department of State, where he was responsible for oil and gas issues in Iraq, Turkey, Russia, and the eastern Mediterranean. Before that, he was director of international programs at New York University’s Center on Law and Security, a foreign policy advisor on Senator Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, and a program coordinator for the Near East South Asia Center at the US Department of Defense, working in more than ten Middle Eastern countries. He has also held appointments at the World Bank and Baker Botts, LLP. He is currently an associate of the Geopolitics of Energy Project at Harvard University, a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and a member of the Massachusetts Bar and the District of Columbia Bar. He speaks Turkish and French and conversational Arabic, Farsi, and Spanish, and holds a bachelor’s degree from Emory University and a juris doctor from New York University School of Law.
