Emmanuel Uwakwe, CFA

Emmanuel Uwakwe, CFA, is a Portfolio Manager at Opto Investments, where he runs the Opto AI Fund and focuses on sourcing, research, and diligence across private markets, with an emphasis on venture capital and AI. He was the second hire on Opto’s investment team and helped scale the platform from an early-stage investment business into a larger institutional private markets platform. Emmanuel also helps drive internal AI initiatives and software projects across the firm.

Prior to Opto, Emmanuel was an Associate at J.P. Morgan, where he worked across sales and trading roles in equity derivatives and macro cross-asset derivatives. He began in equity derivatives, advising clients on tactical trade ideas and structured solutions, before moving into Strategic Equity Solutions, where he helped executives, insiders, and affiliated shareholders evaluate complex hedging and monetization strategies. He also launched a systematic put-selling strategy business that raised $300M in AUM within its first year. Emmanuel later traded macro cross-asset derivatives across interest rates, commodities, and FX.

He holds a B.S. in Business Administration with a Finance emphasis from San Diego State University and is a CFA charterholder.
