Frank Barbarino, CAIA
Mr. Barbarino is a Senior Investment Officer for Alternative Credit in the Bureau of Asset Management, NYC Office of the Comptroller. In this role, his responsibilities include working with managers to implement investment strategies within the Alternative Credit portfolio, oversight of portfolio performance and risk, conducting research on investment themes, and performing due diligence on prospective managers.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Barbarino was a Vice President at Goldman Sachs in the Prime Services group, where he led the development of hedge fund related analysis and content. Before this, he was a Principal and Investment Strategist at The Carlyle Group where he worked with the private credit team and communicated investment strategy and themes to institutional investors.
Mr. Barbarino was also a Senior Research Consultant at NEPC, where he advised institutional investors on alternative investment plan development, portfolio construction, manager due diligence and monitoring, and a Senior Hedge Fund Analyst for the fund of funds subsidiary of Nationwide Insurance Company.
Mr. Barbarino received an M.B.A with a concentration in Finance from the University of Rochester, Simon School and earned a B.A. from Union College with majors in Economics and Music. He is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designee and holds Series 7, 63, and 65 licenses. Mr. Barbarino is the founder of the Junto for Sustainable Investing, a think-tank focused on ESG and impact investing.
