James Sweeney is Credit Suisse’s Chief Economist and Regional CIO for the Americas. He is a Managing Director, a member of Credit Suisse’s Global Investment Committee, Americas Pension Committee, and is Chairman of the Americas Investment Committee. He leads a global team of approximately 30 economists who are responsible for Credit Suisse’s macroeconomic House Views. Previously James held roles including Head of Fixed Income and Economic Research and Chief Fixed Income Global Strategist. He joined Credit Suisse in 2000, having previously worked as a political speechwriter. He holds an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics and a BS magna cum laude from Florida State University. James is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and is a John C. Whitehead Fellow of the Foreign Policy Association.
