Justin Rockefeller
Justin is Global Director of Family Offices and Foundations at Addepar, the financial operating system designed to bring common sense and ethical, data-driven investing to our financial world. Addepar serves, pro bono, as the transaction-level data platform for The ImPact, a social enterprise Justin cofounded to increase the probability and pace of solving social problems by improving the flow of capital to businesses creating measurable social impact. The ImPact provides families with the knowledge and network they need to make more impact investments more effectively. Those who make The Pact commit to 1) explore the impact of all of their investments, and 2) invest to create measurable social benefit.
Since 2009, Justin has served on the board and the investment and audit committees of Rockefeller Brothers Fund; he helped steer the private foundation towards mission-aligned investing of its endowment. He also serves on the boards of Japan Society and The ImPact. He is a “TEDster,” an Americas Business Council Foundation Fellow, and speaks occasionally about impact investing, family offices, and technology, including at the WEF at Davos, Milken Institute, etc.
Previously, Justin was Venture Partner and Principal at Richmond Global, LLC, a global venture capital firm focusing on technology-enabled services and mobile technologies in the U.S. and across major emerging markets; investments include successful exits AdChina and Buuteeq. Justin was cofounder and chairman of GenerationEngage, a social enterprise connecting politicians and community-college students. Notable participants included, among others: Barack Obama; Bill and Hillary Clinton; Colin Powell; Newt Gingrich; Al Gore; and Chuck Hagel. Technology partners included Apple and Google.
Justin’s previous board memberships include: Voxiva, Inc.; Rockefeller Family Fund; Population Council; The International Council of The Museum of Modern Art; the Alliance for the Arts; GenerationEngage; and Mobilize.org. He also served on the National Leadership Council for GLSEN – the Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network, and on the NY State Commission on National and Community Service.
In 2002, Justin graduated from Princeton University and then worked for three years at the Museum of Modern Art. Justin and his professional ballet dancer-turned-entrepreneur wife have one daughter and live in New York City.
