Karim Ahamed, CFA
Karim is a Partner and investment advisor in the Chicago office of Cerity Partners. He has over thirty years of experience serving the complex needs of wealthy families, corporate executives, business owners, and charitable organizations. Karim is a member of the Cerity Partners Investment Committee, where he has served in a number of roles, including overseeing the firm’s manager selection activities and authoring its quarterly market digest for a number of years. Karim has also served as investment strategist, working with the chief investment officer to identify key investment themes and opportunities for the investment practice and determine the appropriate strategic and tactical positioning for client portfolios.
Prior to joining Cerity Partners, Karim was a Managing Director and Senior Investment Specialist with J.P. Morgan Private Banking. Earlier in his career, Karim held senior investment and wealth management positions in the UK with Coutts & Co and UBS AG.
Karim received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of William & Mary and his Master of Management degree from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He is a CFA® charterholder and member of the CFA Institute, CFA Society of Chicago and CFA Society of the UK.
Karim currently serves on the boards, and professional advisory committees of several non-profit organizations focused on arts, culture, education and economic development. He is a member of the Wealth Management Advisory Board at DePaul University, chairs the investment committee of William & Mary’s Mason School of Business Foundation board, and he has been a regular guest lecturer at the undergraduate and graduate levels at both institutions.
