Kim is an author, adjunct professor, business owner and a peer-to-peer lending and securities-based crowd funding pioneer and expert. Her work was cited over 100 times in the JumpStart Our Business Startups Act, 2012 final rules (Titles II, III, and IV)that amended the U.S. Securities and Exchange Acts of ’33 & ’34 to democratize access to capital. Kim is a certified National Association of Corporate Director(NACD)®and has served as a member of the Audit Committee, Compensation and Benefits Committee, Risk Committee, and Investment Committee on public and private boards. Since 2017, Ms. Wales is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Crowd Bureau Corporation, an asset and risk management firm that provides consultancy, software, and data tools for clients seeking to participate within the peer-to-peer lending (P2P)and digital assets industry across the USA, Europe, and Asia. She is responsible for firmwide strategy and supporting all matters related to all pillars of the business. Some products include real time data collection & analytics, research, and scoring/rating models, that allows for the construction of rules-based portfolios used for public traded investment products (e.g., ETFs, UCITs),and investing and managing client’s digital assets (tokens)through separate managed accounts. She brings a deep and broad background in corporate governance, risk management and FinTech/banking regulations. From 1995–2011, Ms. Wales was the founder of a boutique consulting firm with a portfolio of work that spanned implementing regulatory frameworks, and post-Merger & Acquisition consolidations and business restructuring that realized cost efficiencies for the combined entities. Areas of focus included enterprise market data and derivative exchanges, cash management and treasury solutions, fund administration ($100B), personal and corporate trust, Sarbanes Oxley, and Basel II Pillar I. Clients included the Bank of N.T. Butterfield & Son Limited–nine offshore jurisdictions, Morgan Stanley, Chase Manhattan Bank, Prudential Insurance, Depository Trust & Clearing Corp., Securities Industry Automation Corporation, and others.
