Kuni Chen, CFA
Kuni is an investment professional with expertise in sustainable investing and ESG research/integration. Kuni’s background is in equities with a focus on sell side research, portfolio management, and ESG. He is currently Head of ESG and Portfolio Manager for Seeds Investor LLC. Seeds is a fintech platform that enables financial advisors to deliver values aligned portfolios for their clients.
Previously, Kuni led climate change impact investing at The Nature Conservancy. Kuni’s work focused on carbon offset credits, renewable energy, sustainable forestry, and the retirement of coal mineral rights. In recent years, The Nature Conservancy has executed over $200 million of impact investment transactions.
Kuni also brings 15+ years of experience as an II-ranked equity research analyst. He worked at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, UBS and other leading investment banks. Kuni covered metals, mining, and coal for many years where consideration of environmental and social impacts was always part of his investment thought process.
In recent years, Kuni participated on panels at CFA Society ESG Investing, Financial Times – Investing for Good, PEI Responsible Investing Forum, The Wall Street Green Summit, and other conferences.
Kuni graduated from Middlebury College. He is a licensed General Securities Representative (FINRA Series 7, 16, 24, 63 & 87), a Chartered Financial Analyst, and SASB FSA credential holder. In his free time, Kuni is an avid gym-goer and plays ice hockey at Chelsea Piers.
