Luis Ochoa

Luis Ochoa is a Vice President of the strategic planning department for BNY Mellon Wealth Management, based in New York City.  He is also a co-founder of the firm’s digital initiative to accelerate organic growth and new businesses.  Since joining the firm in 2018, Luis has led strategic engagements for the firm’s wealth and asset management businesses. 

His career to-date centers on strategic planning and corporate strategy:

• Wealth Management:

• Development of business strategy for global family office business
• Development of growth strategy for $300B wealth management business focused on high-net-worth clients and family office

• Asset Management:

• Formation of a corporate development function, creating a framework to assess acquisition opportunities
• New market entry for a $225B traditional asset manager, enabling distribution of solutions set to self-directed investors

• Financial Technology:

• Digital transformation of U.S. wealth management business to become a private bank industry leader
• Launch of digital enterprise with a focus on core digitization, client journey reimagination, and new business development

Luis received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Stanford University, where he was a member of the varsity fencing team. He has spoken at several industry forums and was recognized as an Emerging Leader in Asset Management by National Investment Company Service Association (NICSA) and as a Rising Star of Mutual Funds by Fund Intelligence.
