Martin Small
Martin Small, Managing Director, is BlackRock’s Head of U.S. iShares®. He is responsible for directing strategy and leading U.S. regional activities across multiple functions for the exchange-traded products business, including sales, product management and development, marketing and communications, capital markets, and the operating platform. He is a member of BlackRock’s Global Operating Committee and the iShares Global Executive Committee.
From 2008-2014, Mr. Small served in global and regional roles as part of the senior leadership team for the Financial Markets Advisory Group in BlackRock Solutions, where he lead teams and executed a wide array of advisory, transactional, complex financial modeling and specialized portfolio management engagements for financial institutions, governments, and central banks in the U.S. and Europe to address capital markets and balance sheet challenges. He also served as a member of the BlackRock Solutions Operating Committee.
Mr. Small joined BlackRock in 2006 as a member of the Legal & Compliance Department. Prior to joining BlackRock, Martin was a capital markets, investment management and transactional Associate with the law firm of Davis Polk & Wardwell in New York. He started his career as a federal law clerk for the Honorable Richard Owen, U.S. District Judge in the Southern District of New York.
Mr. Small earned a B.A. degree, Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude, from Brown University and a J.D. degree, cum laude, from New York University School of Law.
