Matthew Sherwood, PhD
Dr. Matthew Sherwood is a recognized thought leader in the carbon markets, with an in-depth understanding of Green Economy catalysts, risks, and ESG-aligned investments. He has authored several published works on the subject, including “The Risk Adjusted Return Potential for Integrating ESG Strategies Into Emerging Market Equities” (Journal of Sustainable Finance & Investments, 2017) and “Establishing ESG as Risk Premia” (Journal of Investment Management, 2018). Sherwood also wrote the first ever textbook on ESG Investing; “Responsible Investing: An Introduction to Environmental, Social, and Governance Investments” (Routledge.) Sherwood is a Guest Lecturer at Columbia University, where he instructs on ESG Investing, the Green Economy, and Economic Theory.
Sherwood began his asset management career at Morgan Stanley. He left Morgan Stanley for a full-discretion Portfolio Manager position at Access Global Partners, where he was responsible for allocating capital across all asset classes. Subsequently, he was a Senior Portfolio Manager at The Schonfeld Group, and then the Chief Strategist at Ivy Strategy. Sherwood served as Director of Public Markets Investments at MMBB Financial Services. Prior to his current role at Pothos Partners, Sherwood founded WeVidIt, a FINRA-member and SEC regulated FinTech startup that he sold in 2023.
Sherwood graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Honors Program at Liberty University in an accelerated three years. He went on to obtain his Master of Business Administration, with a focus in Finance and Economics, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration.
