Robert Schmieder

Robert Schmieder is head of LatAm Credit Research for BBVA Corporate & Investment Banking. He joined BBVA Securities in New York as Head of Credit Research for Latin America in September 2013. Mr. Schmieder is leading the research team as it expands BBVA’s coverage of companies in Latin America and reinforces the bank’s existing position as a leading broker dealer for credits in the region.  He brings more than twenty-six years of research experience, with twenty years as a specialist covering companies in Latin America. During that time, sectors that he has covered include telecoms & media, metals & mining, and industrials. Previously, Schmieder was a managing director and head of Corporate Credit Research in Latin America for HSBC Securities and held similar positions at Bear Stearns and Santander Investment Securities. He has an MBA from New York University and an MA in Spanish Literature from the same institution.
