Samir Gadio is an emerging markets strategist at Standard Bank based in London. Gadio formulates investment strategies in fixed income and FX, and tracks macroeconomic and political developments in the Africa space. He has traveled extensively across Africa and interacts on a regular basis with central bank officials, market players, and institutional investors operating in the region. Prior to joining Standard Bank, Gadio was a financial economist covering African markets at Renaissance Capital; he was based in Moscow, London, and Lagos. He started his career as a lecturer in statistics and options and futures at Manhattan College, New York. Gadio holds a PhD and MA in economics from Fordham University, New York, and a BS in economics from the Russian Peoples’ Friendship University, Moscow. He is fluent in English, French, and Russian.
