Sandy Burns, CPA

Sanford “Sandy” Burns serves as a Managing Director and Head of High Yield Research at Stifel’s Fixed Income Division Credit Group. In his role as a Senior High Yield Research Analyst, Sandy specializes in analyzing the Paper & Packaging, Industrials, Equipment Rentals, Transportation, Aerospace & Defense, and Chemicals sectors.

Over the course of four decades, Sandy has ranked as a leading analyst multiple times by the Institutional Investor All-America Fixed Income Research Team, recognizing his insightful coverage of the paper and forest products, chemicals, industrials, and transportation industries.

Sandy has over 30 years of experience in leverage finance; prior to joining Stifel, he gained valuable sell-side experience at prominent financial institutions, including Deutsche Bank, Bankers Trust, and Smith Barney. Sandy has also contributed his expertise on the buy-side through his roles at S.A.C. Capital and Alliance Capital.

Sandy is a Certified Public Accountant. He graduated with honors from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, where he earned a B.S. in Economics, and from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business, obtaining an M.B.A.
