Serigne Diouck
Serigne Diouck is a Senegalese-American businessman and philanthropist, who formerly served as an Assistant Treasurer in JP Morgan’s Global Markets and Banking Division. Since then, he has founded Afro Marketplace, a 30 Wall Street-based import-export & micro-finance business that has given over 3,000 Senegalese women artisans, who produce handmade products, access to the global markets. Mr. Diouck is also an adviser to numerous global investment banks, as well as governments, on public-private partnerships in Africa. Mr. Diouck is currently working on a two billion dollar (USD) West African public-private partnership. In 2006, Mr. Diouck founded AFACE (American Foundation for African Children’s Education), a not-for profit that repairs schools for underprivileged children in West Africa. Additionally, in 2012, Mr. Diouck founded FAYE (Federation of American Young Entrepreneurs), a not-for profit that connects American students with entrepreneurs across the globe. On September 23rd, 2011, Mr. Diouck rang the NASDAQ Closing Bell with many members of his Wall Street network, his AFACE leadership team and the President of Sierra Leone, in an effort to promote American investment and children’s education in Africa. Mr. Diouck is also a full-time Professor of Economics, Finance and International Business at the City University of New York, where he has taught since 2004. With his efforts in development and extensive charitable work, including the re-building of schools that have increased educational opportunities for over 9,000 children, he remains a very well-known and popular figure in his native country and across Africa.
