Tom Powell

Tom is director and investment manager of Kimura Jersey Limited, where, in collaboration with Kimura Capital London, he oversees a portfolio of Commodity Trade Finance investments with a global reach. Starting at LIFFE in listed derivatives, he has 18 years of front office hedge fund sales, trading, and risk management experience from Société Générale, Jefferies, Altis Partners and Kimura Capital. Spending much of his career working with the complex strategies of CTA, he has participated on the risk and investment committees of sophisticated alternative fund managers. He sees trade finance as a vital “triple win” for producers, purchasers and investors. The opportunity within the trade finance sub set of specialty credit continues to grow, and the products Kimura create, enable access to capital for SME’s and diversified returns for investors.

A passionate advocate of sustainability in finance, he leads the working group on ESG for the Jersey Funds Association. Tom is trilingual English, French and Italian and has a BA(Hons) and a Masters (Maitrise) in International Commerce (Commerce Internationale) from the Université Blaise Pascal (Clermont-II) – Clermont-Ferrand. Tom is based in Jersey UK.
