William Riegel

 William Riegel is senior managing director and Chief Investment Officer of TIAA-CREF Asset Management.  In this role, Mr. Riegel is responsible for TIAA-CREF Asset Management’s overall investment strategy.  Previously, he was Head of Equity Investments where he oversaw active and quantitative portfolio management, equity research and equity trading activities for the organization.  In addition, he managed the diversified equity investments strategy.  Mr. Riegel joined the TIAA-CREF organization in 1999. Mr. Riegel has 35 years of investment experience.  He began his career at JP Morgan in their Investment Management division as a research analyst and later moved into active equity portfolio management.  His latest role at JP Morgan was managing director and senior portfolio manager responsible for a number of international equity and convertible portfolios. Mr. Riegel earned a B.A. in history from Williams College.  He is a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts.
