Ian van der Vlugt leads CDP’s data team, focused on providing the highest-quality data and analyses to CDP’s broad stakeholder base. Focus areas include: quality-review of reported data, GHG emissions estimations, assessments of GHG emission reduction targets and corporate low-carbon transitions, and climate scenario analyses. The team’s work ranges from data infrastructure development to in-depth climate analyses to the visualization of results.

Before joining CDP, Ian worked for 4 years at the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) in Amsterdam where he helped to design and realize its Sustainability Disclosure Database. He also managed the functional development of G4 Online, an online platform that offers a unique means of interacting with GRI’s G4 standard. Prior to that, he developed e-learning at Deutsche Post DHL.

Ian also serves as a Technical Advisory Board member of eRevalue, a London-based startup offering big data insights into material ESG topics and their regulatory risks.

Ian’s undergraduate studies were at the University of Vermont with focus in political science and mathematics, with graduate studies in sustainable development at the Maastricht Graduate School of Governance.
