What You’ll Learn
The unique regulatory framework and business model of financial institutions pose specific challenges in the areas of analysis, forecasting and valuation. In this 2-day course, participants will focus exclusively on banks. On Day 1, you will understand the operating model of banks and regulatory and capital implication, and learn how to analyze the financial statements of a bank and begin building a complete bank forecast model. On Day 2, you will complete the forecast model, then create a Dividend Discount Model (DDM) for bank valuation. The course will conclude with a discussion of specific considerations around bank M&A. This intensive course is designed to equip professionals engaged in the analysis and valuation of banks, with the hands-on skill set needed on the job and is taught by an experienced FIG investment banker.

Day 1 | BANK INDUSTRY FINANCIAL STATEMENT MODELING
You will learn how to build an annual forecast model for a financial institution while being guided through the unique regulatory framework and business model of banks.
Day 2 | BANK INDUSTRY VALUATION MODELING
You will build perform valuation modeling on a financial institution, while navigating through the unique industry challenges of expensing of debt service and income, the regulatory constraints on reinvestment, and the calculation of levered vs. unlevered free cash flows. Alternative approaches to valuation will be discussed including Dividend Discount Models (DDM).

This boot camp assumes proficiency in Excel. Enrollment includes access to our popular Excel Crash Course for those who need an Excel refresher.
Boot Camp Details
This boot camp is an intensive training program where trainees learn bank and FIG modeling in Excel using an intuitive, step-by-step approach. Participants will use real case studies to build financial models from scratch the way it is done at financial institutions. The program is a synthesis of Excel modeling, navigating through various financial reports, and the application of accounting, corporate finance, and valuation courses.
This virtual training session will run from 9a-5p daily (ET). The session will use interactive exercises as learners move back and forth between classroom lecture and small group breakout rooms.

Prerequisites
This seminar presumes knowledge of financial accounting (at least 1 semester or equivalent). Participants without this background must enroll in and complete the Accounting Crash Course prior to attending the seminar.
