Russell G. Golden's 7-year term as FASB Chairman is coming to an end in June. A long-time staff member at the FASB, Mr. Golden served as Technical Director of the FASB, overseeing staff work on accounting standards and technical application and implementation activities and chaired the Emerging Issues Task Force before becoming FASB Chairman. These roles helped prepare him to lead the adoption and implementation of two of the most significant revisions to accounting standards ever: revenue recognition and lease accounting. FASB’s Current Expected Credit Loss (CECL) standard was adopted by large public-filing banks and other financial institutions on January 1, 2020. Smaller public filers and non-public filers have until 2023 to implement CECL.
