In his new book, Mastering the Market Cycle: Getting the Odds on Your Side, Marks reveals the hidden logic in carefully pinpointing market trends so that investors have the opportunity to improve their results.
Jack Ciesielski published The Analyst’s Accounting Observer over 26 years and engaged frequently with both standard setters and analysts over that span. His observations on how accounting and financial reporting have changed over the years should give you fresh ideas on how to assess the companies that you analyze. The program will discuss improvements in financial reporting over the year, and the problems that still need to be addressed. Mr. Ciesielski has served on many financial reporting committees including for FASB and the CFA Institute.
In its first Insurance as an Asset Class event, CFANY has invited managers focused on investing in two large groups of insurance investments: Life Settlements and Catastrophe Insurance. The Life Settlements business started with the AIDS crisis in the 1980s and quickly evolved into a very technical business where insurance policies were exchanged for cash based on estimations on people’s mortality. New investors (including Warren Buffet) brought valuation methods and capital to the industry, helping to turn it into an asset class in the last 15 years.
This year’s Sustainable Investing Thought Leadership annual event will focus on the theme of long-termism.
