When we flip the calendar over to a new year, it is special for a variety of reasons. This largely symbolic act carries a unique ability to represent a fresh start for some, a promise of continued success for others, and a seemingly revitalized energy for all.
We can relate to all the above feelings here at CFANY, eager to get to work on a host of exciting new plans and ideas, and—galvanized by an historic outpouring of support and participation in 2016—committed to building on the tremendous strides we took last year and carrying that momentum into 2017.
In a sense, the process officially commenced with our recent election. CFANY extends sincere and heartfelt gratitude to all whom participated. Without exception, each candidate has played an integral role in our recent growth and in establishing the building blocks of which the Society will undoubtedly benefit from moving forward.

Directors

Jonathan Prin, CFA, is a Managing Director and Head of Research at Greylock Capital, a hedge fund focused on emerging markets distressed debt. Prior to joining Greylock, he was a portfolio manager and member of the Global Fixed Income Group at JP Morgan Asset Management. Mr. Prin has a B.A. in from the University of Pennsylvania, and received his CFA charter holder designation in 2009.
Deepika Sharma, CFA, is a Portfolio Manager and Managing Director of Investments at Astor Investment Management LLC, a nearly $2bn quantitative global macro asset manager. As a member of the Investment Committee, she assists with the management of Astor’s multi-asset and global macro strategies and reports directly to the Chief Investment Officer. Ms. Sharma holds a Masters in International Finance at Columbia University.
Maria Weitzer, CFA, is Director, Portfolio Management at TAG Associates LLC, a leading multi-client family office and portfolio management services firm with more than $8 billion of assets under management. Maria is responsible for analyzing and recommending publicly-traded equity and fixed-income strategies and is a member of TAG’s Investment Committee. Maria received her B.A in Accounting and Management from Hartwick College. She was awarded her CFA charter in 2006 and holds FINRA Series 7, 63, and 65 licenses.

Leo Schmidt, CFA, has been an institutional investor for over 20 years. Most recently, he was a Senior Equity Analyst for the Chubb Corporation for 10 years where he was responsible for all analysis on a $2 billion 90 stock portfolio. He earned an MBA from NYU with a double major in Accounting and Finance.
Mark Sullivan, CFA, possesses a career that includes 6 years in private wealth management, 11 years in asset management and 3 years in alternative asset capital raising. Mark acted as CFO/COO and served on the management committee of Ore Hill Partners, a credit focused hedge fund manager where he developed and managed all non-investment functions as AUM grew from $70 million & 7 employees to over $3 billion & 45 employees.
Evelyn Yeow, CFA, is a lead investment analyst at John Hsu Capital Group, an institutional asset management firm where she works directly with the Chief Investment Officer on Asian equity investing for the firm’s Global, International, and Dedicated China strategies. She earned a BA in Mathematics from Baruch College, CUNY.
Jae Yoon, CFA, is the Chief lnvestment Officer of New York Life Investment Management, joined NYLIM as a managing director in 2005. Mr. Yoon earned his master’s degree in Operations Research and bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University. Mr. Yoon is a holds FINRA Series 3 and 7 registrations.
