Group Description
The Sustainable Investing Group provides a forum to advance the dialogue around the role of sustainable investing (SI) in today’s markets. Programs focus on current SI issues, including those related to fiduciary responsibility and risk management. Members seek to identify the challenges and rewards of incorporating environmental, social, and governance factors in security analysis.

Mario López-Alcalá, CFA
Mario López-Alcalá, CFA, has 20+ years of experience integrating climate change, ESG and impact factors into the investment process. Mario’s professional experience expands from teaching and researching Law and Economics, to working on responsible investment in Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) as well as in private and public capital markets on both the sell and buy sides. He has held positions at Mexico’s National University, the UN, Innovest, RiskMetrics, MSCI, APG Asset Management and Brown Brothers Harriman. Mario serves as a member of IFRS’ Sustainability Reference Group providing technical guidance on IFRS S1 and S2.
He holds a BA in Economics from the Technological Autonomous Institute of Mexico, a JD from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, and a Masters in Environmental Science and Policy from Columbia University. Mario is a CFA Charter Holder.
