Through generations of investment professionals, CFA Society New York (CFA NY) has remained steady as a leading forum for the investment community, and a hub for objective, independent thought. Driven by an unparalleled community of volunteer investment professionals, CFA Society New York holds over 200 events per year, exploring various topics of vital importance to the investment industry.
Award Descriptions
Volunteer of the Year Award
This award honors respected and distinguished CFA NY members/volunteers who have demonstrated extraordinary service and continuing devotion to the Society and who have shown continued dedication to achieve CFA NY’s goals especially in the past calendar year. (Up to three people may receive this award. CFA NY membership is required.)
Benjamin Graham Distinguished Service Award
This award honors unusual dedicated voluntary service to CFA NY marked by outstanding performance, demonstrated effective leadership, prolonged and committed service, devotion, and enthusiasm. Established in 2011, this award honors the contributions of Benjamin Graham, one of CFANY’s founders and the “father of securities analysis.” This award is presented to a CFA NY member/volunteer who has served the Society for at least ten years in one or more of the following areas: Volunteer Leadership, Program Development, or Membership Growth. (CFA NY membership is required.)
Irving Kahn Lifetime Achievement Award
This award is presented to a member of the investment profession who has made distinctive contributions to the industry and whose exemplary achievement, excellence of practice, and true leadership have elevated the integrity and competence of the profession. This award was established in 2011 to honor the enduring contributions of Irving Kahn, one of CFA NY’s founders and the first recipient of the award. (CFA NY membership is not required.)
CFA Society New York Ambassador Committee
This award recognizes the committee that has promoted CFA NY’s values to members as well as nonmembers, resulting in increased awareness of CFA NY in the financial community. The committee obtaining this award has built bridges and partnerships between various financial institutions and CFA NY.
Most Outstanding Industry Contribution
The committee awarded this distinction has been instrumental in moving in to fill a new need in the finance profession. This need is in line with the values and mission of CFA NY. This award can also go to a committee that has recently been established and has shown growth in membership as well as creating new programs.
Most Innovative Committee of the Year
The award is given to the committee with the most original and innovating platform for delivering content and programs.

The majority of CFA NY events are organized by member-driven subcommunities of like-minded individuals, each respectively centered around a set of shared professional interested and a defined, overarching theme. Thousands of individuals contribute to these groups in the spirit of collaboration. The following groups were identified by our Nominations Committee for their accomplishments this year.
