2019 CFA Society New York Volunteer Awards
Award Descriptions
This award honors respected and distinguished CFANY members/volunteers who have demonstrated extraordinary service and continuing devotion to the Society and who have shown continued dedication to achieve CFANY’s goals especially in the past calendar year. (Up to three people may receive this award. CFANY membership is required.)
Benjamin Graham Distinguished Service Award
This award honors unusual dedicated voluntary service to CFANY marked by outstanding performance, demonstrated effective leadership, prolonged and committed service, devotion, and enthusiasm. Established in 2011, this award honors the contributions of Benjamin Graham, one of CFANY’s founders and the “father of securities analysis.” This award is presented to a CFANY member/volunteer who has served the Society for at least ten years in one or more of the following areas: Volunteer Leadership, Program Development, or Membership Growth. (CFANY membership is required.)
Irving Kahn Lifetime Achievement Award
This award is presented to a member of the investment profession who has made distinctive contributions to the industry and whose exemplary achievement, excellence of practice, and true leadership have elevated the integrity and competence of the profession. This award was established in 2011 to honor the enduring contributions of Irving Kahn, one of CFANY’s founders and the first recipient of the award. (CFANY membership is not required.)
Research Award
This award recognizes an individual who has produced a body of research notable for its enduring value to finance professionals. The award is presented to a person who exemplifies outstanding leadership in promoting excellence and relevancy in research and education. (CFANY membership is not required.)
Young Investment Professional Award
This award recognizes an outstanding early career professional who actively involves himself/herself in the profession, investment communities, and the work of CFANY. The award is presented to a CFANY member/volunteer who has been in the investment field for less than ten years. (CFANY membership is required.)
CFANY Ambassador Committee
This award recognizes the committee that has promoted CFANY’s values to members as well as nonmembers, resulting in increased awareness of CFANY in the financial community. The committee obtaining this award has built bridges and partnerships between various financial institutions and CFANY.
Most Outstanding Industry Contribution
The committee awarded this distinction has been instrumental in moving in to fill a new need in the finance profession. This need is in line with the values and mission of CFANY. This award can also go to a committee that has recently been established and has shown growth in membership as well as creating new programs.
Most Innovative Committee of the Year
The award is given to the committee with the most original and innovating platform for delivering content and programs.
Most Improved Committee
The committee that shown improvement over the last year in terms of members, participation, or programs will receive this award.
