China: What’s Next?
April 14, 2016
Description
Over the past year, China has been a source of volatility, from slowing economic growth that inflicted considerable pain on commodities, to a strikingly wild roller-coaster ride in the equity market, to the turmoil brought about by the depreciation of Renminbi to the rest of the world. In 2016, China once again plays a significant role in determining the path of the world’s economy and global investment outlook. This panel seeks to examine various pressing issues confronting China’s policymakers, how likely China will be successful in maneuvering the transition from the old investment-led growth model to the new consumption-driven economy, the outlooks for the RMB and the Chinese economy in 2016 and beyond, as well as investment opportunities arising from the new economy.
